Henry Miller served in the United States Civil War.

Henry Miller a civil war veteran died in Williamstown. Henry served in Co. D, of the 11th PA Cavalry until 1863, but then re-enlisted and served until August 13, 1865 when he was honorably discharged.


From his Obituary in the Lykens Standard Mar. 24.1911. He was born in Bavaria, Germany, Aug 17, 1839, and he was the son of Peter Miller and Phillipani Monsweiler.

Henry emigrated from Germany and first settled in Swatara, then moved to Coaldale (Coal Dale was a small unincorporated area at the base of Short or Big Lick Mountain, north of Lykens and west of Wiconisco. This town name is found on a Library of Congress map here [1]

Henry married Magdalena Matter and they had two children. Also living at the time of his obituary is his brother Adam Miller of Wiconisco.

The family moved to Williamstown in 1868. (please read his obituary as one of the images attached to this profile)

According to his death certificate, Henry Miller died on 15 March 1911 of “cystitis and heart disease.
