Is George Elbert Miller the "G. Miller" appearing on Amelia Co., VA Civil War Map?

Peggy Figlar of the Nottoway Co., VA Historical Association noted to me there was a "G. Miller" on the Civil War map near of Dawson Creek in the northwest corner of Amelia Co., VA.

This "G. Miller" could be George Elbert Miller-50852 (12/9/1815 - 5/5/1865) who I found on an Ancestry.com family tree in 2017. I always question Ancestry.com family tree given so many of them have numerous errors, however maybe this one is accurate given such exact birth and death dates (but no locations) are given. I tried to find more info. on him doing a record search using FamilySearch.org with no luck.

George Elbert Miller's grandfather, Thomas Miller (c.1760 Cumberland Co. - 1820 Powhattan Co.) is the brother of Jesse Miller, Jr. who I think was the Jesse Miller on the 1811 Deed (below) where four other Miller men are noted.

1/4/1811: Joshua Smithey of Amelia Co. 1st part....John Miller of Cumberland Co., VA 2nd part; and Willis Vaughan of Cumberland Co. 3rd part. Smithey conveys enslaved persons to Vaughan and 240 acres in Amelia Co. on Dobson's Creek; adjoining John Wright; Richard Ligon; Anderson Miller; & Jesse Miller. Joshua Smithey sold Jesse Miller 135 acres in Amelia Co. with the improvement of a Grist Mill. In order to secure Jesse Miller the property a clear title, free of any demand by Dabney Miller, Joshua Smithey conveys the enslaved persons and 240 acres to Jesse Miller to protect Jesse Miller from any damages. Wit.: R. B. Gibson; William Miller, Amey A. B. Gibson; Joseph Carson; & Claibourne Wright.

SUMMARY OF MILLER'S ON 1811 DEED: It appears the William Miller witnessing the Amelia Co., VA document could be William Miller, Clerk of Goochland Co., VA, son of Jesse Miller, Sr. (he and many of his descendants were county clerks) given his possible connection to Willis Vaughan on this document and fact he had a nephew named Jesse Miller [III] that could be the Jesse Miller noted in the same document.

If this is the case, it would confirm William Miller, Goochland Co., VA Clerk is a relative of my known Miller's; however still not certain his grandfather was Charles Miller, Sr. born in Ireland. However Charles Miller, Sr. born in Ireland could have been the "Charles Miller, Sr." on the 1755 Middlesex Co., VA jury. Dabney Miller appearing on these Amelia Co., VA documents in the late 1700's early 1800's father's family were in Middlesex County, VA for at least a couple generations.

This research indicates that Dabney Miller and his half brother, Anderson Perkins Miller (1776-1850, my 3rd GGF) lived within 8 miles or less of each other just south of the Appomattox River; and they likely were involved in trade up and down the Appomattox between Farmville and Petersburg.

I am assuming at this time that the Anderson Miller appearing on the 1811 document with 4 other Miller men is Anderson Miller, son of Isham Miller, Sr. This Anderson Miller is a cousin of Anderson Perkins Miller (1776-1850).

John Miller "of Cumberland Co., VA" appearing on the 1811 document very well could be Dabney Miller & Anderson Perkins Miller's oldest brother, John Miller.

HOWEVER "G. Miller" on the Amelia Co., VA Civil War map maybe a different George Miller:

There was a George Miller in Amelia Co. between 1785 and 1788 who may have been a merchant given he is collecting debts (see Order Books below). I assume it is possible the "G. Miller" that appears in the northwest corner of Amelia Co. on the Civil War map could be a descendant of this George Miller and not a descendant of Jesse Miller. I have not identified any George Miller descendant of Patrick Miller, Sr. (b-1620) and thus Jesse Miller that could be the George Miller in Amelia Co., VA between 1785 and 1788. I did a search using FamilySearch.org on a George Miller of the correct age range who was a resident of Amelia Co., VA and the only person even close was a George Miller on the 1810 Buckingham Co., VA Census. This 1810 George Miller was 26 to 45 years old (born between 1765 and 1784). There was a male 16 to 26 in his household; a female; and 12 enslaved persons. About 40 households prior to the above George Miller in Buckingham Co. was a John Miller; 16 to 26; so born 1774 to 1784; with 19 enslaved persons. No identified descendant to-date of Jesse Miller could be this John Miller. Over a hundred households prior to the above John Miller in Buckingham Co. was a "William A. Miller"; also born 1774 to 1784; and 20 enslaved persons. I am comfortable saying he was William Armistead Miller-90753 (c.1789, should change this to say 1784 and died 1846 both in Buckingham Co., VA). William Armistead Miller's father, John Miller is the brother of George Elbert Miller's grandfather, Thomas Miller of Cumberland Co., VA. David Ross & Co., P vs. Benjamin Ward, D} In Case -The same as before.

George Miller, P vs. Matthew Branch, D} On a Petition -Abates, the D being returned no inhabitant of this County.84b

William Ellington, P vs. Stanley Chaffin, D} In Debt -

NOTE: David Ross above was a Scottish merchant and two of Dabney Miller-45051's (b-1750) married Ellington's, daughters of Hezekiah Ellington. The William Ellington in the Amelia Co., VA court document above is likely the 1st cousin of Hezekiah Ellington, William Ellington-768 (c.1745 - c.1811 Prince Edward Co., VA) who is noted on his WikiTree profile to have owned a grist mill and saw mill.

On the petition of George Miller against Martha Davis for £2.14.0 said to be due byaccount, Court decrees that the P recover against the D this amount, and costs.

The petition of George Miller against Elizabeth Anderson (on an account) is dismissed, andthe P is to pay the D’s costs.
