Biography

Esther Calderwood Mills is the daughter of Silas Mills & Eleanor "Nellie" Smith.

She had a son with Henry Mills, before 1857 on Vinalhaven. Father's name per son, Frank Elwin Mills' death record. The only Henry Mills at that time was Henry, b 9 July 1819, the s/o John Mills & Susanna "Susan" Pierce; d 17 Oct 1845, Va. He married Mary Adelia McKellar on 16 Jan 1845, Vinalhaven. Their child, who was residing with his mother in 1860:

1)Frank Elwin Mills, b 7 Sept 1857, Vinalhaven - 24 Feb 1918, Jay, Me.

She married 1st: Lysander Greene on 9 Dec 1866,^[1] Vinalhaven. He was b 1844, Vinalhaven, the s/o Capt Robert Frank Green(e) & Nancy D Manchester. He d 1871, Vinalhaven.

Esther married 2nd Capt Elisha Mayo Oakes Jr on 27 Jan 1877,^[2] Vinalhaven. He was b 11 Feb 1822, Gloucester, Ma, the s/o Elisha Mayo Oakes Sr & Harriett Wonson. He d 30 Nov 1891, Vinalhaven.

Esther married 3rd: John Colburn on 28 Oct 1898^[3], Somerville, Me. He was b 14 Jan 1824, N H, the s/o Abraham Colburn & Mary Remick. He d 24 May 1907, Camden. No children.

Death Record: Esther C Colburn died on 29 Nov 1911^[4] in Camden at the age of 74 years 5 months 7 days. Born on Vinalhaven, she was the daughter of Cyrus [sic: Silas] Mills (born Vinalhaven) & Nellie Smith (born Vinalhaven).
