Biography

Coral Hinman Mills, son of Ebenezer and Lucretia (Hinman) Mills, was born at New Hartford, Conn., about 1803 (age at d.) and baptized there in June 1807 (NHTCH). He died at Eagle Village in Manlius, Onondaga Co., N.Y., 26 August 1837 age 34, and was buried at Christ Church Cemetery there. [1][2] He married about 1827 Clarissa Spencer who was born at Shoreham, Addison Co., Vt., 5 February 1808, daughter of Wilson and Nancy (Catlin) Spencer. She was also the niece of Margaret, wife of Asher. She died at Union City, Branch Co., Mich., 14 April 1884 age 77. She married 2) probably about 1842 Harvey Lovejoy.

In 1839 "Corryl H. Mills" was listed just above his uncle Asher at Manlius. He had two males under five and one 15-20 as well as himself 20-30 and a female 20-30. In 1840 "Clarissa" was listed at Manlius with a male under 5 and one 5-10, a female under five, one 5-10, herself 30-40 and another 70-80, perhaps her mother. 19 July 1845 Harvey Lovejoy and Clarissa his wife, formerly wife of Coral H. Mills, deceased, quitclaimed any claims against Asher Mills, her dower rights in village lot #88 in Eagle Village in Manlius bought by Coral H. Mills.

In 1850 Clarissa was at Cazenovia, Madison Co., age 42, born n Vt., as the wife of Harvey Lovejoy 44, a "waggonmaker" with land worth $1000, born in Mass. Also there were Lucien P. Lovejoy 7 and Lucretia Mills 14, both born in N.Y. By 1870 they were back in Manlius, Harvey 62, Clarissa, 60 and Charles Lovejoy 19. Clarissa's obituary names her five sons and daughter Lucretia "Youngs" of Wisconsin.
