Mary Mills is the daughter of Robert Mills of Kittery, York County, Maine, and the step-daughter of John Harker.
Mary married Lewis Bane (pronounced "Bean) born 1645, in Scotland. They had five children, all born in York, Maine:
Ebenezer Bean-Bane, born 1669, killed January 25, 1691 by Indians; Lewis Bean-Bane, born April 28, 1671, married Mary Austin; Elizabeth Bean-Bane, married Joseph Carlisle; Joseph Bean, born 1676, married Joanna Freetly; James Bean-Bane, died 1721 in York, Maine
Mary's husband was killed by Indians in the raid on York, on April 7, 1677 and his estate shows that he was a Stockman, for he had a large herd of cattle. After his death, Mary married Charles Brisson, who tried to "take possession of the estate" for his personal benefit and he very nearly succeeded. The matter was taken to court where it lingered and was not settled until May 8, 1695, when Lewis Bean, the second son, was appointed the Administrator, 18 years after his father's death.
