She married James Heslip, a mechanic, at Ravenhill Presbyterian Church, Belfast, on 25 December 1928. They had children, Betty, Alan, Patricia and Mansell. Alan died in 1942, aged 5.

Betty married Charles Shannon in 1960, and they had two children.

James died on 20 January 1966 at Wyncroft, 1067 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, and was buried at Dundonald Cemetery two days later.

Patricia married Seifu Davoodbhoy in London in 1968. They had two children. Mansell became a gynaecologist, and married Barbara Edwards in Wales in 1972. They had three children.

Evelyn died on 14 August 1987 at Wyncroft, 1067 Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast, and was buried at Dundonald Cemetery on 26 August.
