Biography

Mary Milner, daughter of John Milner was baptised at Helperthorpe in Yorkshire on the 16th of May 1779. [1]

She married Timothy Anderson, illegitimate son of Elizabeth Anderson, at Helperthorpe on the 21st of January 1800. [2] Timothy was a shoemaker. [3] [4]

Timothy died in 1860, his death being registered at Driffield. [5]Aged 81 in 1861 Mary was still managing for herself living in Front St. [6] but ten years later she was living with her daughter, Jane Suggett.[7]

Mary died at Weaverthorpe of bronchitis on the 7th of December 1871 aged 93. [8] Obituary: WEAVERTHORPE: There died at this village on the 7th inst., Mrs Mary ANDERSON, widow of the late Timothy ANDERSON, of Helperthorpe, who had been a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Society for the long period of 71 years. She was a mother of 18 children, grandmother of 74, great grandmother of 101 and great, great grandmother of 4. Five or six of the grandchildren are in America and married, but as it is not known what is the number of their families, they are not taken into the above statement. [9]
