Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
Karen ~ WikiTree Pre-1700 Greeter
As somebody who is well experienced in medieval genealogy I am absolutely aware of the necessity of sourcing pre-1700 information (though personally I think that applies to every aspect of genealogy). Unfortunately I'm not a very 'socially outgoing' person who will initiate contact, but I'm definitely willing to cooperate with those contacting me.
Having said that: I will always attach sources at the initial set-up of a profile and come back to them to add more. The Malta profile was set up because I recognized a name and knew I could connect it to my ancestors. Once I finalize the connection I will go back over every person in the tree and tidy up as well as add sources. But you can rest assured the information I provide is correct ;)

At WikiTree we use our own names on our profiles or we use specific words that work with our privacy system. If you would like to "anonymize" your name, you can use Anonymous or an initial for either your first or last name, but not both, please. If your "alias" is truly a nickname, you can put that in the Preferred Name field.
Try to put as much of your real name as you feel comfortable making public. Do not use a fake name under any circumstances. See our help page on Name Displays. We are a friendly community here.
Wiki Genealogists who sign the Honor Code cannot use the Unlisted Privacy Level.
WikiTree is all about collaboration. Other WikiTree members can't collaborate with you if they can't identify you with a member name.
For more information on our Privacy Levels, click the Privacy tab on your profile or take a look at our Privacy help page.
Thanks for visiting WikiTree and be sure to ask for help if you need it!

What profiles are duplicates? Please check out Membership to see what you can and cannot do at the Family Member level. WikiTree and wiki markup do have a learning curve for even experienced genealogists.
If you list the profiles that are duplicated, I can take a look and see if we can propose a merge.
Take care, Sheryl
Sorry for the hassle.
Wait until you hear from your relative. Profiles aren't discontinued; if they are duplicates they can be merged. Let me know when you hear from him, and I can take a look at the profiles and propose the merge. If there is no response, after 30 days they can be approved by default and merged.
I hope that makes sense. You can check the Help pages - search for Merges under the Help tab, then the Help Search - type merges in the search box to get the info.
Take care, Sheryl

Actually I'm fairly well versed in genealogy, but discovered there's already another profile of mine in place, established by a distant cousin. And now I don't know how to merge the two :/
