Admiral in the Royal Navy. Entered service on 26 Oct 1793, his junior service being mainly in the West Indies. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1800, where his service was spent mainly in the East and West Indies. Became Commander on 14 June 1809. Milward was promoted to Captain on 28 May 1813. He served in the West Indies and on the coast of North America during the War of 1812-1815. Milward was paid off in 1815 and did not serve again, retiring as a Rear-Admiral. According to the Admiralty records, although Milward served continuously from 1793-1815, "he had no special opportunity of distinction and was never gazetted. On the other hand he was never trialled by Courts Martial". Thanks Be for that!!! :-)
