Biography

Ada Edith Constance Minchin was born in 1894 in Hokianga, Northland, New Zealand, daughter of Charles Humphrey Minchin (1834–1900) and Edith Fennell (1853–1933).

Her father passed away in 1900 when she was only six years of age. The family farm was sold and her mother took Ada and her two siblings to Cambridge in the Waikato.

There is a bit of mystery as to who the father of her children were and where the name Adamson came from. One theory is the father of her three children was Charles Wentworth Minchin, her first cousin who she later married. (Charles was married at the time Ada's children were born.)

Her children were:

Ada (44) married Charles Wentworth Minchin (54) (born in 1884 in Inglewood, Taranaki; son of John Minchin and Louisa (Watkins) Minchin) in 1939 in Inglewood, Taranaki. [1]

Charles rescued her from hospital, where she was living as she had tuberculosis; they married in 1939, and she died shortly after.

After her death her three children were raised by her sister Alice.

Last Address: Inglewood-Dudley Rd. (Married)

Ada died on July 22, 1939 in Inglewood, Taranaki, New Zealand, aged 44.

She was buried in Te Henui Cemetery - 1936 Extension, Row 3 Lot 19 Plot 3, New Plymouth, New Plymouth District, Taranaki, New Zealand [2]
