Biography

Almeda Emeline Miner was born on the 17th of September, 1872 in Iowa. Her parents were Leander Hoskins Miner and Ella Elizabeth Scouten. Her father was born in Wisconsin and her mother in New York. They married on the 4th of April, 1872 in Mitchell, Iowa.

Sometime during 1874-1876 the family moved to Ferndale, Humboldt, California where Almeda married Frederick Llewlyn Francis on the 21st of December, 1892. They had three children while living in Ferndale, Craig Miner, Nathalies and Leander Adrian Francis. By 1910 the family had moved to Portland, Oregon where daughter Jacqueline Francis was born on the 4th of June, 1911.

She owned a home in S.E. Portland near 40th and Hawthorne St.[1] The address was 1848 SE 41st Ave.[2]

Her husband, Frederick L. Francis passed away on the 2nd of Feb. 1932.

Almeda passed away in October, 1974 at the age of 102 years old.[3]

"Almeda E. Francis

Funeral for Almeda E. Francis will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverview Abbey, followed by crypt interment.

Mrs. Francis, who lived at 1848 SE 41st Ave., was born Sept. 17, 1872, in Mitchell County, Iowa, and moved to Portland in 1909. She died Wednesday at age 102.

She is survived by two daughters, Nathalie Simmons and Jacquelyn Porter, both of Portland; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren."
