Biography
Birth
Vilas was born on 18 December 1923. (1924, 1937 censuses) He was the son of John Miner and Kate Thunder.
Death
Vilas was murdered on 2 December 1960. John Roecker and Vilas Miner had spent the evening drinking. Vilas followed Roecker to his apartment where at 10:20 am Roecker fatally shot him five times with a .22 pistol. (Oshkosh Daily, Sheboygan Press) "Miner's family is from La Crosse, but Miner had been living and working in both La Crosse and Wisconsin Dells." (Oshkosh Daily)
