Also often written as Abraham Burton Mingus.
His body was taken back to NC for burial.
Mrs. Bernay's book convincingly connects the George Mingus of Burke and Lincoln Counties with his sons Abraham b. 1781, Henry Mingus b. 1782 who remained in Lincoln County and married Rheuanna Gant, and George Mingus who married Sary Baker in 1809 in Lincoln County.
In 1816, Abraham sold the land he had inherited from George, and bought no land in that county afterwards.
Abraham Mingus, b. 1781 married Rebecca Stilwell on 9 August 1816 in Haywood County, North Carolina.[1]
They lived there after that, and named their first son George.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Abraham by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Abraham:
Where is the record that his name was "Burton Abraham" and not just "Abraham"? There was a Burton C. Mingus who was very involved in the Oconaluftee Church, but he was b. 1823.
