Biography

Alfred was born in 1813 and passed away in 1875.

Circa 1835, Alfred Minor moved to Montgomery Co, IN with his parents and siblings. By 1837, he had married Permina Albertson. The Albertson family must have been good friends even in Butler Co, OH as Stephen Minor, Alfred's father was the executor for Hiram Albertson's will in Montgomery Co, IN.

Alfred Minor was living next door to his father, Stephen, on the 1840 Montgomery Co, IN census. By 1844, Alfred and Permina were living in Fountain Co, IN. Alfred (asignee of Agnes Cook) paid the sum of $75 in full for the balance due on siad Agnes Cook's purchase of Lot number 6 being the E 1/2 of the S/W 1/4 of S16 T 19 R7[1] Alfred and wife, Permina sold to James Lightfoot the above piece of property. [2]

Alfred's will is recorded in Book 2 p 470 Fountain Co, IN,[3] He is buried in Bonebrake Cem Fountain Co, IN.

"Alfred Minor, the father of Stephen Minor of this city, died on Thursday, May 6, at his residence in Rynear, Ind., of consumption. He was 61 years of age and was a highly esteemed citizen. We sympathize with Mr. Minor in this irreparable loss." [4]

Another obituary states " In Rynear, Cain township, Fountain county Ind, on Thursday morning May 6th, 1875 ALFRED MINOR, in the 62nd year of his age, of consumption. The deceased leaves three sons and one daughter, among the former is Stephen Minor, until lately a citizen of this place. Mr. Minor was an old citizen of this county, in fact might truthfully be ranked as one of the pioneers. He was universally respected and his loss will leave a void in the community where he so long lived and was best known. He was a sober, industrious, genial and christian gentleman; whose word was as good as his not; whose head and his heart was always open to the call of charity. He died as he lived, pure and upright, good will to all and emnity to none. [5]
