Biography
Robert was most likely born in Eype, Symondsbury, Dorset, which he mentions in his will. [1][2] He married Avis in Somerset, England before 1718. [3] Robert and Avis started their family in the small village of Kingstone.[4] John was the first born, joining them in 1718. [5] Robert Jr was next, joining them in 1720.[6] Rachel was soon to follow, being born in June of 1723.[7] Avis next had James, baptised 1725, followed by William, born 1727.[8] William's birth had brought their family to a total of seven. Anna[9] and Sarah[10] were born within a few years of each other, bringing more joy and laughter into the home. Their final child, Thomas, was born in 1734.[11] This made them a family of ten.
Life in Kingstone would have been fairly simple. Being such a small village,[12] the families would all have known each other. The children would have played and learned together. Once a deer park,[13] Kingstone boasted ample wildlife, and good agricultural land.[14] Robert and Avis lived their lives out in this quaint, close-knit village.
In preparation for the end of his life, Robert wrote his will on the 11th of March in 1748.[15][16] Robert died in March of 1751, in Kingstone and was buried on the 2nd of April.[17] In his will, proven the 11th of May in 1851, Robert included his wife, his three sons Robert, William, and James, his daughters Ann and Rachel, and his grandson John, son of Robert.[18][19]

Notes
- The surname Minson was first found in Cheshire at Minshull Vernon on House of Names
- Robert's father on Ancestry is said to be Robert b 1656 in Dorset, d 1718. More research would need to be done. Note: If his father was from Symondsbury, it would be Robert Minson b 1676.
- There was a Robert, son of Robert & Eliz (no last name?) baptized in 1696 in Symondsbury, Dorset, Ancestry. on Ancestry $ Robert's son Robert was one of the first entries in the Kingstone book. I'm not sure if this Robert was also born there, or moved there from somewhere else.
- There are two Robert Minson's in the Index of Wills - both of Symondsbury.
- No marriage to Avis found in Symondsbury. I don't know what parish she is from.
- Symondsbury to Kingstone is about 17 mile difference - but I don't see Robert Minsons in Kingstone before 1720, and I don't see Robert Minsons in Symondsbury after 1718. This Robert may have been born in Symondsbury, and relocated to Kingstone. There is a 21 Feb 1696 baptism of Robert son of Robert and Elizabeth his wife (they forgot to put the last name in) in Symondsbury. Comment: Robert is from Symondsbury, he mentions Eype in his will.
