Elvira was born in 1829 in Jefferson, Tennessee, USA. Elvira Minter married James L Cate in Dallas, or Grapevine, Tarrent, Texas in about 1847. She married James L (Jim) Cate [1] (was his second wife) in 1847 in Dallas, Texas. Jim had moved to Dallas, Collin, Texas to homestead in the Peter's colony. Jim's first wife passed away in 1846.
Elvira's father was a Methodist preacher named Green Minter. Elvira and James had 11 children. The censuses reflect Elvira, James and their children living in the area of Dallas county, Texas in 1850. They moved to Grapevine, Tarrant, Texas (North Texas) in 1851. [2] [3]
Elvira passed away in 1908. Both Elvira and husband James L Cate are buried at this cemetery for which James had donated land. This cemetery is Minter Chapel Cemetery near Grapevine, Texas and located within DFW International Airport as of 2015. [4]
