Elizabeth, known as Lizzie, was the daughter of Robert Mitchell and Elizabeth Good. She was one of 3 children in the Mitchell family to be born in Australia and later to be nicknamed 'Cherry'.
In 1920, Lizzie married Philip John Duncan and they settled in Owaka in the Clutha district where Philip worked as a Storekeeper.
In the 1950's, Cherry and Philip moved to St Kilda, Dunedin and bought the Mitchell family home at 48 Tedder Street. Robert Mitchell had provided for his unmarried daughters, Violet and Jessie and they lived next door at number 50.
Elizabeth Duncan passed away in 1968 aged 73 and her ashes are buried at Northern Cemetery, Dunedin. CREMATION - ASHES IN FAMILY PLOT.
