John A Brown and J S Mitchell signed a bond on the 5th of March 1866 so they could be married.[1] The license was obtained in Greene County, Tennessee.[1]
In 1880 John and Pollie were living in East Cape Girardeau, Illinois.[2] John (34) worked as a Farmer while Pollie (32) took care of the home and the family.[2] Charlie (8) and Henry (4) stayed home with their mother.[2] Only Pollie could read and write.[2]
Pollie passed away on the 12th of January 1890 in Alexander County, Illinois. She was survived by her husband and four children.
according to John Browns Civil War Pension records, they had two sons Charles Zachary and Henry Ollie
