GENERAL NOTES: PROVENANCE: Even though none of the descendants that we have contacted claim to have the family Bible (perhaps it burned in the house fire which claimed the life of Fanny Mitchell Kurth's son, Peter), the pension application papers of Thomas Ward Mitchell provide us with the family records, from the Bible. The document is a sworn affidavit dated April 29, 1902, from the Notary Public, Henry Pitts of Mineral Point, who swears that:
I examined the family Bible of the late THOMAS W. MITCHELL. I find the same was printed in the year 1872 by the American Bible Society. It was purchased by THOS. W. MITCHELL in 1873.
MARRIAGE: Married Joe Kurth, who was of German parentage, in 1905.
