Robert David Mitchell was born on 31 August 1913 at Petersham, NSW, the son of Robert Mitchell and Stella Hunter.^[1] He was the third of their four children.

Robert David Mitchell, son of Robert Mitchell and Stella Hunter, married Ivy Olive Williams, daughter of Augustus and Emily Williams, on 23 December 1941 at Annandale, NSW.^[2]

Robert's wife Ivy passed away in 1970.

Robert David Mitchell passed away in NSW on 9 October 1979.^[3] He was survived by two of his sisters and their families.
