Biography

James was born in 1824 at Maryhill, Lanarkshire. He was a coal miner in 1851, living with his wife Elizabeth and infant daughter Jessie. ^[1]

In 1881, he was working as a lamplighter and living at 11 Caithness St, Glasgow. He was aged 53. In the household were his wife Elizabeth, aged 50, James 20, Sophia 19, Alexander 15, and Thomas, 9. Elizabeth Miller, his 3 year old granddaughter, was also in the household. ^[2]

He passed away in 1891.
