Biography
When James Newton Mitchell was born on December 8, 1856, in South Carolina, his father, Wiley, was 46 and his mother, Elisabeth, was 38. He married Mary Caroline Hawkins and they had 8 children together before her untimely death in 1901. He then married widow Annie Laura (Pruitt) Murdoch about 1904 and they had at least four children together. He died on October 22, 1926, in Anderson, South Carolina, at the age of 69, and was buried there.
