Biography

Edward Allen Laue was born March 18, 1943 in Lexington, Nebraska. He was raised by his mother Doris and step-father Victor Laue.

He graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, South Dakota in 1961. Every year in September, Edward would still reunite with his class of '61 for Homecoming Weekend; they all remained close friends. He then attended Northern State University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration.

Edward entered the United States Army in 1965, retiring in 1992.

He was united in marriage to Barbara Ann Newton on July 10, 1966 at the American Lutheran Church in Huron, South Dakota. Until October 20, 2000, Edward worked with Airgas as a Route Delivery Driver. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. Edward was a General Custer history buff and he was a "story teller".

Most of all he loved his wife of 42 years, his daughter and grandchildren.

Edward passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at his home from a lengthy illness at the age of 65.

He is preceded in death by his mother Doris.

Edward is survived by his step-parents Victor and Millie Laue; wife Barbara of Waterloo, Iowa; a daughter Kristen (Tom) Ockerman of Eldridge, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Patrick, Elizabeth and Nicholas Connell; 2 step-grandchildren: Jason and Lindsay Ockerman and a half brother Bill Mitchell of Kearney, Nebraska. Funeral services will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Military rites were conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
