Biography
Ann Maria Mitchell married James Cathcart in the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at Freshwater Isle of Wight whilst he was a soldier based at Cliffden Camp next to Norton Green in 1874. By 1885 James had disappeared and the children, George Wilson Cathcart, Alfred James Cathcart, Kate Louisa Cathcart and Albert (William) Edward Cathcart were dispersed around the Workhouses. Ann Maria died aged 27 in 1885 and her Marital Status was listed as 'unknown'. I can find no trace of James Cathcart from 1874 onwards.
