Biography

Born in Delevan, Wisconsin, raised in and around Darien, in Walworth Co. Attended school K-12 in Darien Schools graduating in 1941.

Following graduation she worked in a local factory supporting the war effort. Upon her father's promotion and transfer to the Chicago Stockyards she and her parents moved to an apartment building on South University near a cemetery.

She worked varied office jobs often as a book keeper. One such place was Sears & Roebuck's.

In 1951 she met and married George Storie. Their first apartment was on Chicago's NW side near 6 corners. Their landlords were the Hardmans. In the late 1950s they were renting a small home on Center Street in Wood Dale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, near O'Hare Field.

The summer of 1959 saw them purchase their own modest home in Elmhurst, a city to the south of Wood Dale. That August their son and only child was born. It had been the first day George was scheduled for overtime. The OT did not happen because he returned hometown take his wife to the hospital.

Arlene enjoyed her roll as a wife and mom. She worked jobs that allowed her to be home with her son on school holidays, crossing guard, school bus driver. Later she returned to FT office jobs until retirement.

1979 found her volunteer as a Chaplain's Assistant at a local prison.

Arlene and George retired in 1987 and moved to Memphis, Tennessee to house sit their son's house while he served overseas.

The couple moved to Colorado later where they lived out their lives.
