Colonel Hiram Mix was born on 12 September 1787, probably in New York State. He was the son of Amos Mix and Amelia Pennoyer.
He married Elizabeth Martin on 28 December 1806 at Wysox, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
The family moved from Myersburg, Bradford County, to Towanda, Bradford County, in 1822.
Hiram died on 8 September 1847 at Towanda. He was buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Towanda.
