Biography

Carrie Mix, daughter of James and Helen, was born Dec 1, 1856,^[1] in Illinois.^[2]

The family were enumerated twice in 1860. On July 20, 1860, they were living in Ward 6 Chicago, Cook, Illinois, with FE Corey & Vonera, Helen's parents. About a month later, Aug 14, 1860 they were enumerated living in the Oakalla Post Office section of Loda, Iroquois, Illinois. James was farming and they had what may be farm hands and their families living in the same household or boarders.^[2]

In 1870, the family lived in Kankakee, Kankakee, Illinois. James was dealing in real estate again. He, 49, and Helen M, 37 lived with Nellie C Mix 15; Carrie D Mix, 13; James G Mix, 10; Jennie D Mix, 7; and two domestic servants.^[2]

Carrie attended the Young Ladies College at Ferry Hall, Lake Forest, Illinois during 1873.^[3]

In 1880, Carrie was still living with her parents in Kankakee.^[2]

Carrie L Mix, was a student when she died 9 Dec 1899 in Alma, Gratiot, Michigan.^[4][5]

A brief announcement in the The Times-Democrat, New Orleans, Louisiana, Sunday, December 17, 1899 - Page 28 read "The many friends of Mrs. Geo. H. Taylor sympathized deeply with her in the loss of her only sister, Miss Carrie Mix who died recently at the Sanitarium at Alma. Mich.
