"Mixer, Jack Steele, born July 7, 1943, and born again April 16, 1952, died on December 2, 2007. He was born in Kansas City, MO, attended Turner High School and was an Eagle Scout. Jack met his future wife while at the University of Kansas and graduated with a degree in advertising. He served in the US Army in Viet Nam and Japan, having spent 1968-69 with the 26th PID (FS). After completing his service as editor with the Castle Courier newspaper, his position was succeeded by Al Gore. Jack was decorated with the National Defense Medal, the Viet Nam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the St. Mark's Lutheran Church for over three decades. He loved serving at the church, and he loved serving the risen Lord. A long time resident of Jacksonville, he was a member of the San Jose Country Club and the San Jose Yacht Club. He owned and managed Logan Diving Inc. which took him everywhere from South America to Nova Scotia. Logan Diving is the official commercial diving company for Walt Disney World and the premier underwater engineering firm on the east coast. He loved Puerto Rico, the Republican Party and was a remarkable story teller and friend of many. Jack was always life of the party. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jane Logan Mixer, daughter Amy (John) Franks, son Christopher (Dana) Mixer of Woodstock, Georgia, daughter Alison (John) Campbell of Charleston, South Carolina, mother Betty Mixer of Kansas City, brother John Mixer of Kansas City, sister Jean Mixer of Tampa, FL, granchildren Logan, Austin and Peyton Franks and Ella and Zoe Campbell. Mr. Mixer's homegoing will be Thursday December 6 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church at 10am with family and friends." Etc.
