Biography

Will was born in 1881, the son of Abraham Mizer and Christina Snyder. He was enumerated, age 18, in his parents' home in the 1900 Census.[1]

In 1908, when he was 27 years old, he married Beulah Rahn.[2] They had at least 10 children, of whom 7 survived to adulthood.

In 1910, William (28) and Beulah (22) were in Tiverton Township, Coshocton County, Ohio, with their first son, Clarence (9 months). William was farming on his own land, which they owned free and clear.[3] (Interesting note here is that the next door family was the Lewis F Kirch family, whose son Gustaff would soon marry William's younger sister, Bonnie.)

Between 1910 and 1918, the family relocated to just outside of Danville in Knox County, Ohio, where William registered for the World War I Draft on 12 September 1918. His draft registration described him as being of medium height and build, with light eyes and light hair.[4] The 1920 Census located William (39), Beulah (32) and six children—Clarence, 10; Eva, 9; Claude 5; Irvin, 3; Lloyd, 2; and Harley, 15 months—on a farm on Flat Run Road, not far from the village of Danville.[5]

William and Beulah remained in Union Township, Knox County, until their deaths. The 1930 and 1940 Census indicated that he was a successful farmer, valuing his farm at $17,000 in 1930[6] and the house at $1,500 in 1940.[7]

William passed away in 1953[8] at the home of his daughter Erma (Mizer) Sweet and is buried at Tiverton Cemetery in Coshocton County, Ohio.[9]
