The oldest resident of Carlingford, in the person of Mr. George Mobbs, passed peacefully away on Wednesday at the residence of Mr. Syd. Tunks, Pennant Hills-road, in his 89th year. He was born at Carlingford in 1823, and resided in the district all his life. He was the son of the late Mr. Isaac Mobbs, who was also a resident of the district all his life of 80 years. He married first a Miss Dale, of Castle Hill, by whom he had four children, three still living. For his second wife he married Miss Bowerman, who was also a native of Carlingford, and is still alive. They had eleven children, and all of them are living, Mrs. Thomas Bowerman being the eldest. Up to a week ago he was in his usual state of health, and was spending a week or two with his daughter in Sydney. The sudden changes in the weather affected him and he contracted bronchitis. He returned to Carlingford on the 9th instant, and was attended in his last illness by Dr. Kearney. Up to the time of his death the old gentleman was quite conscious and chatted with those in the room about old times. The interment took place yesterday at the Carlingford Cemetery. http://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/86134745
