Biography

John Mobbs Jr was born on 4 October 1826 at Pennant Hills, New South Wales, Australia ^[1] and christened on 10 December 1826 at Field of Mars, New South Wales, Australia ^[2], the son of John Mobbs and Phoebe Elizabeth Tomlinson and the brother of Sarah Mobbs, Charles Tunks [half], James Tunks [half], Anne (Tunks) Nicholson [half], Robert Tunks [half], Henry James Tunks [half], George Henry Tunks [half], Thomas Frederick Tunks Snr [half], Suzanne Amelia (Tunks) Nicholls [half], Elizabeth Jane (Tunks) White [half] and John Robert Tunks [half].

He married Elizabeth Best on 15 January 1849 at Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia^[3]and their children were Thomas Mobbs, Jane Mobbs, Elizabeth Mobbs, John W Mobbs, Henry Mobbs, Caroline Mobbs, Rose A Mobbs, William Thomas John Mobbs and Charles James Mobbs.

John died on 27 December 1891 at Parkes, New South Wales, Australia ^[4] and was buried in the Parkes General Cemetery, Parkes, New South Wales ^[5].

Note: There were two John Mobbs who were cousins and both married an Elizabeth!
This John Mobbs, born 1826, was the son of John Mobbs and Phoebe Elizabeth Tomlinson and married Elizabeth Best.

The other was his cousin, John Mobbs, the son of his father's brother, William Mobbs and wife Maria Grono and married Elizabeth Eyles at Ryde, New South Wales, Australia in 1842 (NSW BDM: Reg#: MC V333 26C MU/1842) and whose children were, Louisa (Mobbs) Catt (m. Henry William Catt), Maria (Mobbs) Franks (m. Joseph Franks), Elizabeth (Mobbs) Catt (m. William Catt), John William Mobbs (m. Jane Sonter), Caroline (Mobbs) Glidden (m. Charles Gliddon), and Rosanna (Mobbs) Watts (m. Charles Watts).
