Biography

Florence Blair Moberly (1892-1961) was born in Chicago, Illinois on the 30th October 1892. ^[1] She was a daughter of Edward Moberly, a lumber manufacturer, and his wife Jennie Maude Blair. They still lived in Chicago in 1900 ^[2] but moved to New York before 1910 when they lived on East 74th Street in Manhattan. ^[3] They lived in that area for some years ^[4] and it was during this time that Florence went to Europe with her mother 7 sisters returning on the Lusitania in 1913. ^[5]

They had moved onto Park Avenue, Manhattan before 1920 ^[6] and later that year her engagement was announced.

They married on the 5th January 1921 at St Bartholomew's Church in Manhattan. ^{[7] [8]}

By 1926 the couple lived on East 64th Street in Manhattan. They undertook a trip to Europe. ^[9] The couple did not have any children. Harry was then a bank official. ^[10] They lived on Park Avenue, Manhattan subsequently for a while but also bought a property on Meadow Spring Lane off Duck Pond Road in Glen Cove on Long Island. During their marriage they undertook several trips including one to Uruguay in 1928 ^[11] Bahamas in 1933, ^[12] the UK in 1935 ^[13] Jamaica in 1941 ^[14] also latterly in 1958 when they returned to the US via Port Everglades, Florida ^[15]

They were recorded in their Glen Cove residence in both the 1940 ^[16] and 1950 census. ^[17] and it was there Florence died on the 23rd March 1961 ^{[18] [19]}

Not sure if she was buried there but there is certainly a plaque commemorating her and her husband at St Bartholomew's Church in Manhattan. ^[20]
