John Moffat was born at Ayrshire, Scotland in 1841, the son of James Moffat and Elisabeth Loudoun.
John Moffat founded a settlement at Irvinebank, in North Queensland, and lived there until 1912.
John married Margaret Linedale in 1890,[1]
and they had two daughters.
He died at Toowoomba, Queensland in 1918.[2]
