Biography/Obituary

MOHLER - Rudolph M. Mohler, son of Rudolph and Elizabeth Mohler, was born in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. March 18, 1839; departed this life January 16, 1916, aged 76 years, 9 months and 28 days. When a few years of age his parents came to Miami County, Ohio, where he resided until his death. He was united in marriage to Fanny E. Etter February 19, 1865, to which union were born three sons and five daughters; of which one son and one daughter died in infancy. Those left to mourn his departure are his companion, six children, thirty grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers and many relatives and friends. He and his companion united with the Old German Baptist Church in October 1865, serving in the office of deacon for a number of years. Their entire married life was spent on the same farm. He was afflicted with asthma for many years which he endured with much patience until it finally caused his death. When he realized that his life was drawing to a close he remembered the instructions of the apostle James, calling for the elders of the church and was anointed with oil in the name of the Lord and a few hours later fell asleep, seeming ready and willing to go. Funeral services were held Wednesday January 19, at the church near his home, services being conducted by Brethren Henry Garber, H. H. Filburn and P. D. Bowman, the subject being "The Resurrection," reading from St. John 11:17-47, hymns 398, 422 and 411 being used. Burial in cemetery at Sugar Grove. We believe his life was such that we can have a strong hope that our loss is his eternal gain. By his son, David Mohler
