FISHER - Elsie Mae, daughter of Emanuel and Palmyra (Bowman) Mohler, was born December 5, 1905, in Miami County, Ohio, where she spent her entire life. In her teens, she was baptized into the Old Order German Baptist Brethren Church.
On December 5, 1926, she was united in marriage with Lester R. Fisher by Elder Peter D. Bowman. They were blessed with 4 children.
She, with her companion, chose to affiliate with the Old German Baptist Brethren, and was re-baptized January 30, 1931. She served faithfully with her husband and he labored in the office of Deacon and then in the Ministry. For the 25 years he was editor of "The Vindicator", they worked together diligently. Her commitment to church duties and the concern for her family and others certainly qualified her as a mother in Israel.
Due to failing health, she asked for and received the anointing service on February 20, 2000.
She passed quietly away in the hospital on February 23, 2000, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 18 days.
Preceding her in death were her husband on June 24, 1995; a daughter, Eileen Boone, in 1958; a great-granddaughter, Sarah Landes; 1 sister, Mabel Schaurer; and 1 brother, Roy.
She is survived by 3 children and their companions, Pauline and Alva Landes, Melvin and Virginia, and Lois and Paul Garber; a son-in-law and companion, Joel and Phyllis Boone; 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Denlinger.
Funeral services were held February 26, beginning at Jackson Funeral Home, Covington OH, with Roger Rapp using hymn 393 and Psalm 90; continuing at the Covington meetinghouse with Gary Stull using hymn 403 and Hebrews 4:1-9, speaking on "rest"; followed by Ronald Bowman using hymn 443 with Romans 14:7-9 and 2 Timothy 4:6-8. Burial was at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Covington, where Trent Bowman used hymn 150 with 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18.
Thus closes the life of a gentle, loving servant who has been an example to many, and now awaits the resurrection.
