Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.
I focus on connecting Dutch branches to the main WikiTree, using Dutch indexes as found on wiewaswie.nl and openarch.nl
My parents moved a lot in The Netherlands, but were born in Den Haag.
Here I combine the trees of my father and my mother.
I live in Amsterdam since 1997.

Digital Afterlife
It may seem morbid, but in the event of my untimely demise I want to be sure that none of my hard work on WikiTree ends up being deleted. While I fully intend on being around to manage all my profiles for the next 80 years or so, in the event of my sudden death I hereby give permission for all of my private profiles to be transferred to any of the following slightly-active WikiTreers in my family, whether or not they are currently on the trusted lists:

Wow You have added a lot to [[Van_Oppen-22|Piers van Oppen} as soon as I suggested that he was born in the Netherlands. Sadly his only son Piers Willem Van Oppen died in action in the last year of the First World War.
I'd never heard of you before B.J. but I see you added to my grandfather's profile a death date that definitely is not right. Valentin Brenk. I can't remember what year it was but I think maybe the 1980s or 1990s. He definitely did not make it to 101. I don't even know how to find out. There's so much about my ancestral history that I will never know because my parents are long dead, and those who would've known are also gone.
I'm sorry to hear that. The date of his birth was mentioned on the marriage record, as you can see in the Sources section. These are the details that can be found in the Dutch civil registers. The date of death was entered when the profile was created on December 31, 2020. You can check my changes on the page https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:NetworkFeed&who=Brenk-41
Thank you for participating in the Liberation Day Challenge. I believe I saw you helped connect a few profiles during the challenge. As a group we added close to 50 new profiles of service members. You've helped honor those who gave so much for freedom.
Thank you for participating in the April 2022 Connect-a-Thon. With your help we added 3,109 profiles as a team and the whole WikiTree community sourced 84,388 profiles. Your help during this event and with each profile you added you helped improve the amount of connections on WikiTree.

Thank you for contributing to the November Sourcerers Challenge! As you know, every source added to an unsourced profile improves our One Tree. Thank you for taking time from your own family history to help others.

Thank you for adding my great-grandmother (Francina Hendrica van Santen) as a daughter of Johanna Sliep! I've done alot of work on her ancestry, but just haven't had a chance to add everyone yet. Are you related by chance or just working on these profiles to help out?
Thank you very much for updating the record for Neeltje Sellemans.
I am researching and loading details of my Dutch family from Delft.
My apologies for not replying in Dutch.

Thank you for merging the duplicates of my mother and her parents. I'm new to WikiTree and could not figure out how to fix it when I noticed I had entered the data twice. Mary Welter, Chicago
Thank you for your participation in October 2020’s Source-a-thon. Your contributions helped us to clear over 57,000 profiles that needed sourcing. This makes our Shared Tree all that much better.
Re your merge proposal Catherine Crapp (Arthur-2549), I agree that this is the same person, and needs to be merged.
However due to the need to research other family members to update their profiles and add missing members, together with merging her father, I will not be actioning the merge immediately.
The 5th! Source-a-Thon will take place from the 2nd of October till the 5th of October. We really hope you will join us at our Team The Flying Dutchmen. Registering is open now HERE. More info at our Team page HERE or at our G2G-S-a-Th-Chat.
Thanks for your participation during our Connect-A-Thon 2020. It is amazing how many more profiles were created and added to our Shared Tree over the weekend. I hope you’ll join us for the Source-a-thon this fall.
Hello Mr. Molier: After reading about your interests in the Wikitree family news I decided to reach out to you with a Dutch question from Canada. My ancestors (Mills) have been in Moncton, New Brunswick since 1784 when they were kicked out of the U.S. for remaining loyal to the British Crown. In the Canadian census documents, they identified themselves as "English". But in the 1901 census, for some reason, they self-identified as "Dutch." In your experience, have you ever come across this kind of thing before? (My great grandfather Amasa Miller Mills: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Mills-4984). I do not really expect you to have an answer, but perhaps you have some ideas? Thanks. Jonathan
Hi Jonathan, I have not seen this before. However, when I saw an episode of the BBC-program "A house through time", there was a story about an English woman that married a German man in Newcastle during the 1910s. By marrying her nationality became German and in 1914 the great war began, she was an alien in her own hometown. Maybe this was the case with your g-grandmother?
Thank you for confirming the information on Guurtje Pieters (Slegt) Duin. Much more to come, I am repeating my information from Ancestry to Wikitree. Thanks
Many thanks for your enthusiasm and wonderful work during the Dutch Roots Liberation day challenge B.W.J and of course for being our winning connector once again !

Concerning https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Oorthuijs-1 and his brother Gerrit Oorthuis. Thank you for the link that they are brothers. Since I don't know anything about their parents (yet), I think I will look for a birth/marriage/death date first and then add them. If you have found any of these dates please feel free to either add them or send them to me.
Thank you so much for SO many unknown roots and connecting my lineage! I hadnt any idea of my Great Great Great Great Grandfather back in the old hood of Holland!
Thanks for connecting that family. And yet another family who emigrated to the US Midwest. I wasn't even looking for problem in Nederland-United States profiles this time.

One of my projects is looking at 19cen US Netherlands orphans, by creation date, to source as needed. I am not sure I will ever get out of Nov 2010. So many abandoned unsourced profiles, many in Little Chute! I just keep running into Little Chute but otherwise know nothing about the families. I think a lot of Catholic Dutch moved there, at least more than came to Iowa.
Sure, but I was lucky this time. I recognized Little Chute, Wisconsin as a place with a fair number of WikiTree profiles AND FamilySearch had details on the families so I kept poking around until I found another family on WikiTree
This week's connection theme is Saints.

I just noticed you added a wife to one of the QUAX family. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I couldn't find a way to connect them and now they are.
Brilliant and well done
Thanks again

Mooie samenwerking!
