Thomas Molyneux born in 1531 at Calais, under the dominion of England at that time. [1]
Thomas was taken prisoner in 1558 when Calais was retaken by the French. He ransomed himself for 500 French Crowns and went to Bruges, Flanders where he married the daughter of Slabbaert aka Slaberd, a Burgomaster of Bruges.
About 1568 Thomas withdrew himself and family from Bruges to London, then about 1576 moved to Ireland. Thomas lived in Thomas Court, Dublin.

He moved to Bruges when Calais was sacked in 1558 after paying a ransom of 500 crowns and married in 1568 at Bruges, Catherine the daughter of Ludovic Slabbaert/Stabeort a wealthy dean in the Cloth Cutters Craft, by his first wife Adriane Cobrysse. Ludovic second wife was Godelieve Wouters. Catherine had other siblings, Godefroot, Loys and Adriaen.
