A PAINTER'S DEATH. Charles Edward Monaghan, 37, a painter, who lived with his wife and child at 45 Gipps-street, Paddington, died at his home last night from an Injury to the brain. He was returning heme on the night of October 27, when he l'ell in Dowling street, Moore Park, and struck his head on the kerbstone. He was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital. where lie was admitted suffering from delirium tremens. Once in the institution he became violent, and was removed to the Reception House, Darlinghurst, next day. He remained there for three days, and then was taken to his homo. A day later he complained of pains in the head and neck, Drs. Hughes and Walton Smith were called. He gradually sank, however, and died.

FATAL RESULT OF A DRINKING BOUT An inquiry was held in Sydney on Wednesday by the City Coroner, Mr H. S. Hawkins P.M. regarding the death of Charles Edward Monaghan, lately residing at 45 Gipp Street Paddington. Harold Monaghan, brother of deceased, stated that they both left home on the 28th instant to appear at Central Court on a charge of Drunkenness. After leaving court deceased had , 14 or 15 drinks; witness only had one. Later they had a few more, and de- ceased ' began to get nasty and rushed 'at the witness, he collapsed quite suddenly, however, and fell on the back of his head, sustaining concussion of the brain. He was treated at St. Vincent's Hospital, and died on the 6th instant while at home. The Coroner recorded a verdict of accidental death.
