Jane was born in 1846. She passed away in 1944. According to MyHeritage.com, her parents were both Irish, namely Michael Monaghan and Margaret Monaghan (born Duncan). Her obituary notes that her parents met and married in Sydney, and then moved to Brisbane where Jane was born.
The late Mrs. Jane Biddle who passed away on October 26 in her 98th year, was born at Brisbane on November 15, 1846. Her parents, who came from Ireland, were married in Sydney in 1842, and later went to Brisbane, where their daughter Jane was born. After spending her early years in Brisbane and Grafton she accompanied her parents to Timbarra goldfields, where she met and in 1866 married Henry Biddle. who was then the manager of Bolivia Station. Sixty-three years ago Mr. and Mrs. Biddle came to Glen Innes where Mr Biddle in partnership with the late Robert McKerihan, carried on the well-known butchering business of Biddle and McKerihan.
Mrs. Biddle had many interesting stories to tell — of the early settlement in the northern part of the State; of journeys by sailing ship along the coast from Sydney to Brisbane, by bullock dray from Grafton to Tenterfield and Glen Innes: of the wild black in the district; of hold-ups on the gold fields: of seeing dishes of gold in the Commissioner's office, and being permitted to take up gold in both hands and allow it to run through her fingers: and of the progress of the town of Glen Innes from the place of a few houses and shops to its present proportions.
Mrs. Biddle, whose husband predeceased her by 18 years, is survived by two daughters. — Mrs. A E. Rowland (Mary), Glen Innes and Mrs. J. P. Lynn (Agnes), (Rockdale) : and four sons — Messrs. Robert and V. W. (Glen Innes), J. W. (Woy Woy) and Albert A. Biddle (Lindfield). Three daughters — Mrs. W. E. Rowland (Sarah), and Misses Gertrude and Dorothy, and two sons Messrs. George and Harry, predeceased their mother. There are 32 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
