Narrative

Nancy Ann MONAHAN and Michael DUNBAR were married on 24 Feb 1844 at Belmullet Parish in Killala Diocese, County Mayo, Ireland. Their witnesses were Henery Kane and Bgt (Bridgett?) Lokilin. At the time of their marriage, Michael lived in Kilmore Erris and Anne lived in Belmullet.[7]

Nancy died from consumption. on 26 Aug 1872 at the age of 44 at her home in Townsend, Huron, Ohio, United States. [8] Curiously her death was reported twice in the Huron County Courthouse. It was typical to send workers annually throughout the county to go house-to-house to collect vital statistics. Apparently the Dunbar family was interviewed twice, giving different details each time. Entry 56 said Dunbar Nancy, age 45, died 26 Aug 1872 in Townsend, Ohio, married, white, born in Ireland, consumption, (parents) Patrick Monahan and Mary Monahan, recorded 10 May 1873. Entry 157 said Dunbar Nancy, age 44, died Sept 1872 in Norwalk, Ohio, married, white, born in Ireland, consumption, recorded 15 May 1873.
