Mahlon died on September 13, 1877, in Worth, Georgia, having lived a long life of 78 years, and was buried in Sylvester, Georgia in the Land-Tyson Cemetery.
No records found to indicate the last name of his wife Elizabeth. According to all U.S. Census reports she was born between 1800 and 1805 in South Carolina. No death date, but she does not appear with the family after 1860.
