Augustus Monroe is a part of US Black heritage.

Augustus was born in 1869 in Maryland. He was the son of Henry Monroe. He was married first to Bertha around 1893. In 1900 he and Bertha were living in Manhattan, New York where he worked as an elevator man.

Augustus married Dora Taylor in New Jersey in 1910. They lived in Manhattan, New York until his death in 1942. They had one daughter. From 1920 through 1940 Augustus was listed as a printer in printing shop.

Augustus died (age 72) on 22 August 1942 in Manhattan, New York, United States.^[1] He was buried in Mount Zion Cemetery in Wilmington, Delaware, where his father was also buried.^[2]
