Archibald Currie and Elizabeth Montgomery Marriage Contract
Archibald Currie married Elizabeth Montgomery. 1700 (1780?) on the 24th November at Laggan: This day it was agreed and matrimonially ended betwixt the parties following. Viz. Patrick Currie in Lurabus for his son Archibald Currie on the one hand and Mr. Hugh MacKay in Laggan for his niece Betty Montgomery on the other as follows. The said Patrick binds and obliges himself to give his son Archibald Currie a four Pence land of Lurabus at Whitsunday first and that under croft fully sown with five furrow and quey cows with horses fit for working the same also the proportion of Biggings belong to the same. He likewise gives him full title to the other four Pence land now in his possession at his death. Also the aforesaid Patrick engages to pay this Martinmas 1700 Rent for the four Pence land he gives his son. Mr. Hugh MacKay for his niece aforementioned gives tow cows and twelve sheep.
