Biography

Hugh Montgomery was the son of Michael Montgomery and Nancy who married abt 1789.[1] He was born on 4 March 1804[2] in Maryland. In the 1810 census Hugh is the son age under 10 living with his father Michael Montgomery in Morgan, Greene, Pennsylvania, United States.[3] In the 1820 census Hugh is one of two sons age 16-25 living with his father Michael Montgomery in Morgan, Greene, Pennsylvania, United States.[4]

He married Priscilla Hoge by 1830 when they appeared In the census in Franklin, Greene, Pennsylvania. Hugh is age 20-29 and Priscilla age 15-19.[5].[1][2]

In the 1840 census Hugh (age 30-39) and Priscilla (age 30-39) were in Morgan, Greene, Pennsylvania with 6 other family members in the household under 20 and a male and female age 20-29.[6]

Hugh (age 56) was a farmer in Morgan Township, Greene, Pennsylvania, when he and Priscilla (age 52) appeared In the census on 3 Oct 1850.[7]

Hugh died on 14 June 1882 in Greene County, Pennsylvania and was buried with Priscilla at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruff Creek, Greene County, Pennsylvania. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[2][1]
