In 1900, she was attending school. She lived at 3924 Mt. Vernon Street with her father, Clarence, her mother, Annie, Mary's brothers, George Montgomery (1888-) and William, and Agnes Porter, an 18-year old boarder from Massachusetts. The highest grade that Mary completed was eighth grade.
In 1910, she was living as a servant at the home of a Kurtz family, comprising 34-year-old Isaac, 33-year-old Florence, their sons Harold and Webster, 5 and 2, their daughter Florence, newly-born, and a 73-year-old boarder, Ella Bundick.
Mary married Harold Grayson Trievel (1893-1939) on July 27, 1918, when she was 26 years old.
Her daughter Dora (Trievel) Kuntz was born on January 3, 1920.
In 1920, Mary lived in "the first house East on the North side" of East Shawmont Avenue with her husband, Harold, her daughter, Dora, and Mary's brother George.
Her son Amon D Trievel (1923-2010) was born on November 1, 1923, in Roxborough. Her son Roger Trievel (1926-1926) was born on January 2, 1926, and passed away that same day. Her son Paul Emerson Trievel (1928-2005) was born on February 20, 1928.

In 1970, she was living at The Reformed Church Home in Irvington, New Jersey. Mary Helen Montgomery died on December 8, 1970, in Irvington, New Jersey, when she was 78 years old.
