Biography

William Armstrong Montgomery was born on October 29, 1855 in Toronto Municipality, Ontario (Also known as Toronto, York, Ontario.

His parents were Ellen (Armstrong) Montgomery. (Armstrong-18405) and Hugh Montgomery (Missing)

Although William's Recollection of early years are somewhat skewd, perhaps deliberate. It is now thought that he was born in Toronto, Canada to Hugh and Ellen (Armstrong) Montgomery, both Irish immigrants.

The owner of this memorial has just uncovered information regarding William's young life, in Toronto, Canada. Perhaps leaving and coming to Michigan as early as 1891.

DNA has matched between Toronto, Ontario and Waterford, Michigan Montgomery's.

William at 22 years old, married Nellie Estella Sole on February 15, 1897 in Pontiac, Oakland County, Michigan. They raised three children, Grace, Hugh and William.

William is remembered for his prize Chester White hogs that earned blue ribbons at the Michigan State Fair.

William passed away on August 8, 1951 in Waterford and was buried in the Waterford Center Cemetery in Waterford, Oakland County, Michigan, United States.
