Biography

Jane was born about 1598 in Ireland or England [citation needed]

She was the daughter of George Montgomerie and his first wife, Susan, the elder daughter of Alice Fry and her husband, Philip Steynings of Holnicote manor, in Selworthy parish, co Somerset.[1] George wrote to Susan's family on 16 February, 1614/5, to inform them of her death.[1]

Jane's father then married Elizabeth Brabazon, daughter of Edward Brabazon, Lord Ardee and sister of the 1st Earl of Meath.[2] After George's death, Elizabeth married twice more, her second husband was Sir John Brereton, and her third husband was Sir John Bramston, Knt, Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench; Elizabeth's step-son, Sir John Bramston, KB states in his autobiography that prior to marrying his father in August, 1631, Elizabeth "had never any child."[3]

Jane married Nicholas St. Lawrence, 23rd Lord of Howth.[2] On 20 August, 1618, George wrote to his brother-in-law, John Willoughby, the husband of his wife's sister, Margaret, announcing the approaching marriage of his daughter.[1] They had issue:

Jane's father died on 15 Jan 1620/1, at Westminster.[1] George's body was taken back to Ardbraccan, to be laid beside his first wife, Susan.[1]

Hi Melanie

As Elizabeth Brabazon's stepson provides contemporaneous evidence that Jane was not Elizabeth's daughter, I am going to remove the link between their profiles.
