In October 1741, Anne petitioned the Hartford Assembly for a conservator of her husband's estate. He had been absent more than a year on a voyage from Barbados to New England.^[1]

On 12 March 1743/44, Annah Moody petitioned the courts to declare her a single woman. On or about 19 January 1739/40 her husband had left on a vessel to Barbados and the West Indies and the ship and crew had not returned.^[2]
