Gilbert was born in 1924 to Elias King Moody and Willie Mae Ogletree.

He married Barbara Anne Weatherwax in 1948. They had at least two children together.

Obituary

Gil Moody, 87, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday.
Mr. Moody lived in Auburn and attended Auburn University. He was the owner and manager of Universal Volkswagen on the Parkway for 20 years, and was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church for 50 years. He enjoyed golfing, and was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Weatherwax Moody.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law; two granddaughters and their husbands; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery, Inc. with Dr. Jimmy Jackson officiating.
Memorials may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church, 6806 Whitesburg Dr. S, Huntsville, AL 35802.
