Charles died near Oodnadatta, South Australia on 13 January 1929 at the age of 59 years.[3] The following death notice was published in the South Australian newspaper, The Advertiser, on 18 January 1929:[4]
MOODY.—On the 12th (sic) January, at Wire Creek, North-South line, of heart failure, Charles Edward, third son of the late Solomon Moody, of Maitland, Y.P., aged 60 (sic). R.I.P.
